About the bchf

The British Columbia Historical Federation (BCHF) is a Canadian non–profit organization registered as a charitable society under the Income Tax Act.

Providing a collective voice for over 100 member societies and 24,000 individuals in the provincial not-for-profit historical sector, the BCHF was established in 1922.

Constitution

The purpose of the Society is to support, promote, and communicate diverse practices of public history in British Columbia through commemoration, recognition, and publication.

Territory Acknowledgement

The BCHF respectfully acknowledges that it gratefully carries its work out on the unceded and traditional lands of Indigenous nations throughout British Columbia.

The BCHF secretariat is located on the unceded traditional territories of Coast Salish speaking peoples, in particular, the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), Máthxwi (Matsqui) and Se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) First Nations.
